The Last Hero Album Review
Orlando metal band Alter Bridge is about to release their fifth album titled The Last Hero on October 7th via Caroline Records in the U.S and Canada and Napalm Records throughout the rest of the world. Since their last album, the band members of Alter Bridge have been busy with different projects. Lead Guitarist Mark Tremonti has been busy with his solo project which just released two albums, Cauterize and Dust. Vocalist Myles Kennedy has also been busy working with Slash’s solo band which released the album World on Fire in 2014. Both Tremonti and Kennedy went on worldwide tours with their distinctive projects.
Myles Kennedy states that the new album will not push any agenda or political views but it does deal with themes such as political leadership and global warming. For example, the second track, Writing on the Wall, deals with Kennedy’s frustration with those who deny global warming.
This album sees a first for Alter Bridge. Guitarist Mark Tremonti uses a seven string guitar for the first time. In previous albums, Tremonti has always used a six string guitar. This change now allows for heavier riffs from lower guitar tunings.
So far, two songs on The Last Hero have been released to the public, Show Me a Leader and My Champion.
Unless any more singles are released within a few weeks, you will have about a month to wait till you here the rest of the album, unless you were able to attend the listening party at the Beacham earlier this summer.
“Every time we do a record, my only goal is for people to simply think it’s better than the previous one”, - Mark Tremonti. Every Alter Bridge album continues in this pattern. The Last Hero is full fantastic guitar riffs, lyrics, and solos. Some of my favorite songs on the album include, Twilight, Poison In Your Veins, and Show Me A Leader
