Zoltan Bathory Issues Update On New 5FDP Album
Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory has revealed the band will release its next album in summer 2013.
Bathory made the announcement in a series of posts on his Instagram: “Recording the new album. Out this summer,” one of the pictures captions read.
Another image was posted with the following comment: “At the recording studio tracking guitars for new #fivefingerdeathpunch album … Out 2013 summer – the title is … .”
Bathory’s photo postings coincided with drummer Jeremy Spencer’s recent comments that the band had been “cocooned up” working on a new album.
Guitarist Jason Hook explained last summer that the band had taken a recording rig with them on last year’s ‘American Capitalist’ tour. Hook stated: “The idea behind that is just to keep the creative muscle worked out. It’s just like going to the gym; if you stop for a year, you lose all your strength. It’s easy to get lazy and get sort of soft. We’re in the business of making music; touring is great, but we should always be prepared and always exercising that creative muscle — in my opinion, anyway.”
In an interview with Music Radar, Hook said that 5FDP would have around thirty songs prepared for the new album: “In today’s climate of sharing, stealing, cloning, ripping, e-mailing and downloading – it’s critical that the records are not just okay, they have to be incredible…You need ten great songs so you have a choice – you can either show up on day one and say, ‘let’s try to write ten great songs,’ or show up on day one and have maybe 30 songs prepared and try to whittle it down to the best ten.”
