This week’s ‘Amped artist’ is Australian extreme metal band King Parrot. The video to the band’s latest single ‘Shit On The Liver’ can be found below.
In 2012, after two years, an EP and several national tours, King Parrot cemented their reputation as the most lethal and extreme new band in Australia with the release of their debut album ‘Bite Your Head Off.’
Produced by Jason Fuller (Blood Duster, Dern Rutlidge) and Adam Calaitzis (Damaged, Abramelin) the album combined thrash, grind, punk and hardcore to deliver one of the most acclaimed underground Australian albums of the year. Tom Volcanis of Hysteria Magazine said he had, “…never felt so personally threatened by a record before.”
The first single from ‘Bite Your Head Off,’ titled ‘Shit on the Liver’ was recently launched as a video and already has been named as one of the best Australian metal videos of all time.
Regular rotation on Australia’s best rock and metal stations like JJJ and MMM has grown the popularity of the band since its inception on the live touring scene in 2011. The band recently co-hosted The Racket on JJJ, Australia’s national youth broadcaster.
King Parrot has built a solid reputation for their live performances and have supported several international acts, including Forbidden, Macabre, Eyehategod, Hobbs Angel of Death, Psycroptic, Warbringer and Blood Duster. The band currently has its sights set on the world and is touring South East Asia in March/April and Europe in July/August of 2013 with appearances at Obscene Extreme festivals in Australia, Indonesia and Czech Republic confirmed.
Furthermore, King Parrot was recently announced as one of the supporting acts for Thy Art Is Murder’s ‘Hate Across Australia Tour’ with Cattle Decapitation. King Parrot’s upcoming tour dates can be found below.
