Five Finger Death Punch has revealed the next single and video to be released from their hugely acclaimed two part album, “The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell” will be ‘The House Of The Rising Sun,’ made famous by 60s English rockers The Animals.
“We had the idea to do this for a while,” explained 5FDP guitarist Zoltan Bathory of the choice to cover the song. “The interesting thing about this song is that [it’s] actually in a time signature of 6/8 which is a waltz… and rock music and waltz doesn’t necessarily mix right.”
He said the different time signatures presented the band with an unanticipated problem: “So basically the challenge was: ‘How do we make this song work? How do we take away that goofy vibe and how do we make it into a rock structure?’”
Both the single and video to ‘The House Of The Rising Sun’ will be released next month.
“The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell,” Volume 1 was released in July 2013 and came in at number two on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart (selling 113,000 albums in its first week). The album also reached number three in Canada, number four on Germany’s mainstream charts, number twelve in Australia and number 21 in the U.K.
Part 2 of the album was released on November 19 and also debuted on the Billboard Top 200 album chart at number two, giving the band their second top five album within four months.
Five Finger Death Punch is currently preparing to tour New Zealand and Australian as part of the Soundwave Festival 2014. More information on the band’s activities can be found here.
