Crucified Barbara Gets AMPED By All Axess

This week’s AMPED Artist of the week is Swedish hard rock outfit, Crucified Barbara. The official guitar playthrough video to the band’s brand new track, ‘I Sell My Kids For Rock n Roll’ can be viewed below.

Crucified Barbara is currently preparing for the release of its fourth studio album,  ‘In the Red,’ which  drops on September 10 via Despotz. The album is slated to be heavier than any of the band’s previous offerings and addresses sensitive issues such as sex abuse, violence, and animal rights head-on. Stay tuned for an All Axess exclusive interview later in the week for further details on the album as well as the band’s supporting  European tour.

In the meantime, check out the band’s various online pages and read their official bio below.

Crucified Barbara has delivered first-class hard rock since they released their debut album in 2005. Their music is heavy, uncompromising rock spiced with some rattle and delicate melodies. In September this Stockholm based quartet release their fourth full-length album “In the Red,” the band’s most significant and heaviest album so far. Just like they did for previous album “The Midnight Chase”, the band has recorded in the legendary Music-A-Matic studio in Gothenburg with Henryk Lipp as sound engineer and producer Chips Kiesby.

“We’ve been jamming ourselves bloody and let your emotions flow prior to recording. We have always been shocked by injustice and oppression and this time, our opinions have taken an even bigger place in the songwriting” says the band.

“This album is the best thing we’ve ever done musically and it feels damn good to take a clear stand against subjects like misogyny and animal rights, topics we are passionate about, through our music.”

Ida (bass) and Klara (guitar) formed Crucified Barbara already as teenagers along with former singer Joey Nine. They had a plan and a few songs, but lacked a drummer. Fortunately fate was on their side and brought them together with Nicki.

“We had seen Nicki around town, she looked like a real rock star. We noticed that she used to carry drumsticks and one day we gathered courage and asked if she wanted to be in our band. Fortunately she responded yes!” says Ida.

Crucified Barbara recorded demos and played in clubs and youth centers around Stockholm. In 2000, they realized they needed to take the sound to the next level and Mia was recruited as lead guitarist. It turned out that she was not only a great guitarist but also a fantastic singer and 2003, Joey (former lead vocals) left the band and Mia took over the microphone too. Crucified Barbara had found their sound and were ready to record their first album.

Since their debut album “In Distortion We Trust” 2005, Crucified Barbara have earned a reputation as one hell of a live band through hardworking touring and gigs ranging from the biggest festival stages to the dirtiest rock clubs, both on their own and as support to the likes of In Flames, Sepultura, Motörhead and Backyard Babies. The band has toured all over Europe several times, had time for a couple of laps in Brazil, and visited both Australia and the U.S.

The new album “In the Red” will be released in September and then the band leave on a lengthy European tour. Before then, this summer, Crucified Barbara play several festival gigs and the band have already released the first song and video from the upcoming album.

“One-fifth of all women have suffered rape or attempted rape in their lifetime. Dark statistics became the basis for the song ‘To Kill a Man’ and our most significant video. Production team 11frames has captured our vision perfectly and we are proud that we take the chance to lift heavy topics such as violence and sexism with a really heavy hard rock video.” Says the band on their latest song and video, and continue:

“We’ve never been better than now, the new album is the best, most honest and hardest we’ve ever done and we yearn to go out on the road and finally play the songs live.”
