Introduction
Is there a track that you really love and want to remove specific instruments to perhaps remix? For example, remove the guitar from a song?
You know I was in a similar position as you but a few years ago. I was listening to a track and I liked the way this guy was playing his guitar. It was an extensive run, meaning his section was a long one and every second was encapsulating. I wanted to create something out of it but the question was, how do I remove the guitar from that song?
Since then I’ve learned so much now about it and also know what the best tools that are out there that could do this flawlessly are and what tools to use when.
So if you want to remove a guitar from a song, let me tell you, you’ve come across the best guide to do that. Continue reading and I’ll show you how!
Method 1: AI Stem Splitter
EaseUS Vocal Remover is by far the best tool that I’ve come across and I bet you’ll come across it too. The best part about EaseUS Vocal Remover is that it accepts both physical files in different file formats, such as MP3, WAV, and so on, and a direct YouTube link to the song, saving us all the hassle of using shady websites to download that YouTube music and then converting or compressing the file to the appropriate file format.
EaseUS Vocal Remover honestly takes out that whole stress.
Now, here’s a step-by-step guide to isolating a guitar track using EaseUS vocal remover:
- Go to the website and select “Stem Splitter.”

- If you want to remove the guitar but keep all the other elements, select “Only guitar”; in case you want to keep the guitar but remove all the other elements, select “All stems.”

- Now, you can either choose to upload the file or drop the link. Select the option and proceed ahead.
- The platform will take a few seconds to process the file.
- Once it’s processed, you will see the final output.
- In case you selected “All stems” to isolate the guitar track. Once the file has been processed, manually turn the slider of Drums, Bass, and Piano off to isolate the guitar’s track and keep it on.

And believe me when I say this, the output that comes out of EaseUS AI Splitter is just fabulous and there’s nothing to complain about. I’m using it every now and then and I’m just blown away by how good it is every time. It handles even the toughest track like it was nothing.
Another big thing is… EaseUS Vocal Remover is not platform restricted, meaning it’s only available on Windows and not on Mac and vice versa. But it’s OS agnostic, meaning anyone can use it on any platform and device since it’s based on the web.
Method 2: Desktop Audio Editing Software
Audacity is a standalone music-making platform—though it’s not at the level of Logic Pro and the likes of it. I know of people who have made music albums just using Audacity in their initial days.
The good thing about Audacity is that you can add plugins and extend its capabilities and most importantly, unlike many tools that charge an earth-shattering subscription fee, Audacity is completely free and has been for the past 25 years—since it was launched.
But I should give you a small heads-up, i.e., though on paper Audacity looks fascinating because you have control over all the knobs, the only disadvantage of that is you have to go through a manual process to remove the guitar from a song and be really careful how you do that.
Meaning, if you don’t know what you’re doing or you change the values of anything by the slightest, the separation wouldn’t be good and would be messed up.
Basically, while manual control is a blessing, at the same time it’s a curse because you need to spend a good amount of time to get things to perfection. This is where a tool like EaseUS Vocal Remover shines. Because it’s too good without requiring any effort.
Now here’s how to remove a guitar from a song using Audacity:
- Firstly, download and install the Music Separation plugin.
- Now to activate it, open Audacity and then click on “Edit,” followed by “Preference” and then “Module.” Turn on “mod-openvino.”

- Once that’s turned on, restart Audacity.
- Now, open the music file in Audacity and select the portion. Click on “Effect,” “OpenVINO AI Effects,” and then “OpenVINO Music Separation.”

- Under the “Separation Mode,” select “(4 Stems) Drums, Bass, Vocals, Others.”

- Once that’s done, every stem will be separated, and then you have to select to either remove just the guitar or remove everything else and just keep the guitar.
That’s it! That’s how you remove a guitar from a song using Audacity.
Method 3: Mobile Applications
Moises.ai is another fantastic tool on the same level as EaseUS Vocal Remover; however, there’s just one massive grievance from my end.
You can’t use this service without creating an account. Signing up isn’t a problem by definition but to use a simple stem splitter tool like this, a sign-up feels like an overkill—especially if you’re a huge privacy freak. This platform is like an absolute no-go because in case of a data breach, both your email and password could be leaked.
Otherwise, this is absolutely a pleasure to use.
Moises.ai is available for Android, iOS, Windows, and Web. It doesn’t have a standalone platform for Mac and unlike EaseUS, which also supports YouTube links, this doesn’t.
Now here’s how to use this tool to remove a guitar from a song.
- Download and install Moises.ai.
- Create an account on the platform.
- Upload the song of which you want to remove the guitar.
- Now drag the guitar slider down to remove the guitar, but if you want to remove the guitar separately, that is, keep only the guitar on and remove everything else, slide down everything except the guitar slider.
Conclusion
So that’s it! Those are three of the best tools on the market currently that remove the guitar from a song flawlessly.
In the pre-AI era, this was actually unheard of and it would require hours of manual work to do the same.
However now, it can be done in seconds and the one that we liked the most was hands down EaseUS Vocal Remover and the close second was Moises.ai and lastly Audacity—it’s not a bad tool—it just requires effort to achieve the same results as EaseUS Vocal Remover.
