Megedeth’s Dave Mustaine Assaulted By Croatian Crowd

During a recent performance at Croatian festival Metalfest, renowned thrash metal band Megadeth were forced to evacuate from the stage after an agitated crowd turned on guitarist/vocalist Dave Mustaine and pelted him with rocks. Footage of the event can be seen from the 9.20 mark in the video below.

Megadeth were performing on the main stage when the incident occurred. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the audience became hostile when they got wind that W.A.S.P. frontman Blackie Lawless had been involved in an altercation with Mustaine and as a result, was refusing to perform. Massive chants of “We want W.A.S.P.” broke out from the crowd, before a barrage of bottles and stones hailed down on the band.

A Megadeth spokesperson later confirmed to the audience that Mustaine had been hit. “Guys, Dave’s been hit in the head with a rock.” He said. The unrelenting crowed responded with further cries for W.A.S.P. “I apologise. He’s been hit in the head” the spokesperson repeated before he too was showered with stones and bottles.
