And by “mean”, we mean “why didn’t you just turn it all the way down?”
Four years ago, a gentleman by the name of J.M. Ladd was hired to film some bands at Don Hill’s in New York. The footage never made it anywhere as apparently once the shows were over, he was never asked for the video (and from what we can make out, never got paid for it, either.)
Still, it turns out that one of the band’s was Hole – fronted of course by Courtney Love – and Ladd has released a version of the footage that contains only Love’s vocal and guitar. It makes for pretty interesting viewing and listening. The vocal is traditional grunge/punk and sounds pretty par for the course, but that guitar…wow. Ladd says “Whether you think she’s the worst or this just makes her all the more ‘punk rock’ is for you to decide. I’m merely presenting the facts as they are. Make of them what you will.”
Check out the isolated version, and then how the final cut sounded, below.
