Cradle of Filth guitarist Paul Allender has revealed that the band have started writing material for a new album. The announcement came in the midst of COF’s promotional tour of their latest album ‘Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa’, which was released in November last year. In an interview with heavyworld.com, Allender also explained the bands writing process.
“People ask, how do you write to a concept album… we don’t. All the songs are written as individual tracks on their own. When the music’s done we send it to Dani and he decides whether it’s gonna be a concept album or what the songs are gonna be about.”
Cradle of Filth singer Dani Filth summed up ‘Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa’ as being “a ravening beast of furious riffing, flesh ripping vocals and monstrous, unstoppable percussion.” The album lived up to the hype, finding a real connection with fans both old and new and debuting at No. 99 on the Billboard 200 chart, it proved that the band still have more deathly ballads left to offer.
Allender is confident that COF’s follow up album will take the band to new heights; “ A lot of people have said we have come back true to form, and what we are hearing now is that they reckon that our best is still to come. I do believe this next one will be…. The ideas that we have got for the new album, what we’re writing soon, what we’ve started writing already, is F*#%ing killer.”
After playing at the Lez’Arts Scéniques Festival in France on July 14, Cradle of Filth will be taking time out from touring until the end of next year, choosing instead to focus on writing the album; “ We don’t want any distractions, we don’t want anything coming in the way of us writing. That’s why we know it’s gonna be damn good.” Allender said.
