Former My Chemical Romance guitarist Frank Iero has been through the mill somewhat in the last few years. The New Jerseyite has been dealing with some chronic digestive issues which cause sometimes debilitating pain. But he hasn’t let that stop him. His new solo album – Stomachaches – was recorded in a recording studio set in his converted basement, and will be available from August 25th. He’ll be releasing the album under the strange name of Frnkiero Andthe Cellebration.
We don’t exactly have the science down as to what’s going on with that name, but we’re looking forward to hearing what Iero has come up with.
Speaking to MusicRadar, Frank said “I decided not to let how miserable I felt physically take over my creative life. Every time I felt like curling up and dying, I forced myself to go down into the studio and write a song. And on a good day, I was able to ride that creative high and forget about the pain. So I just kept it up, and before I knew it, I had a record.”
He also details his top five tips for guitarists, which are certainly worth checking out.
Stomachaches by Frankiero Andthe Cellebration launches on August 25th.
