The Safety Fire Guitarist Issues Update On Broken Face

The Safety Fire guitarist Derya “Dez” Nagle has issued an update on his health, following a recent motorcycle accident that badly injured his face.

The Safety Fire announced last week that Nagle had been involved in an accident and would require surgery: “The lid himself, your boy playgle aka Dezzo, was in a road accident last night. He is going to have to undergo surgery soon to fix his face and teeth, so send him some love.”

Fortunately, the band added, Nagle’s hands weren’t injured in the crash: “…so while his face may not be quite as pretty, it won’t effect any of our tour dates.”

In a statement published on the official The Safety Fire Facebook page today (July 29), Nagle said the injuries were a result of him landing on the right side of his face and confirmed the first of his medical procedures was successful: “I had my first surgery two days ago and will be having a few more over the coming month. Few weeks of rest and all will be well. Albeit with a few more scars.”

The Safety Fire will release their new album ‘Mouth of Swords’ on September 3rd via InsideOut. The release of the album will be shortly followed by a tour with Between the Buried and Me, The Faceless and The Contortionist, which starts on September 13. A full list of dates and venues can be found below.

Last week, The Safety Fire premiered the clip to ‘Yellowism’ from the new album. It can also be viewed below.
