Entombed A.D. Gets AMPED By All Axess

This week’s AMPED band of the week is Swedish death metal outfit Entombed A.D. The single, ‘Bedlam Attack’ from the band’s new album ‘Back To The Front’ can be heard below.

Entombed A.D.’s long and widening career began in 1987 when the group formed as Nihilist. By the earlier 1990’s the band, now under the Entombed title, had garnered both mainstream success and critical reception, largely thanks to their album ‘Wolverine Blues,’ which was noted for its unique amalgamation of death metal and rock n’ roll, a style that would later be known as ‘Death n’ Roll.’

Throughout the mid-1990’s and 2000’s, Entombed underwent several lineup changes before officially changing their name  to Entombed A.D. and announcing the release of their tenth studio album, ‘Back To The Front’ earlier this year. The new lineup features original member L-G Petrov, along with Nico Elgstrand, Victor Brandt and Olle Dahlstedt. The new album was recorded at Studio Bohus in Kungalv, Sweden with producer Roberto Laghi (In Flames, Hardcore Superstar) and features artwork  by Zbigniew Bielak (Watain, Vader).

‘Back To The Front’ was unleashed early this month and along with the single ‘Bedlam Attack’ is already stirring positive reviews: “It was the first song we recorded for the album, fitting that it’s the first one out!” Petrov recalled in a statement released via Century Media records. “We had a hard time getting it right due to its somewhat unorthodox arrangement. Took its bloody time before everybody started to really like it, now we do though, and very much so, thank Satan! It’s about losing one’s mind in a mental hospital. Obviously you’ve lost it already since you’re locked in. This is about when you really lose it and realize that you have to get out before things go completely tits up inside your head. All the while knowing deep inside that you will never get out.”
