In Flames Set To Release Eleventh Album

Swedish metallers In Flames sat down with Loudwire to speak about their 11th album, which will be released on September 9th of this year. The new offering will be called ‘Siren Charms.’ The band famous for being one of the defining acts of the “Gothenburg Sound” recorded the new disk at iconic Hansa studios in Berlin, Germany. Previous occupants of the studio have been David Bowie and Depeche Mode (who, coincidentally, In Flames covered “Everything Counts” years ago on their album ‘Whoracle.’)

In Flames recorded all the previous albums in Scandinavia and constructed a studio in their home country for recording and rehearsals but chose to escape the pressures and distractions of home life in Gothenburg. The Berlin wall was located only about 100 meters away from the studio, which created an interesting vibe and setting, and guitarist Niclas Engelin spoke about the particular influence the wall played in the band’s experience there.”You could feel the vibe from it – a little bit dark era vibe and I think that was something that we brought into the actual recording as well.”

Lead vocalist Anders Friden was also part of an exclusive video interview with Loudwire about the new album and the frame of mind the band places themselves in for each record. Anders said, “With every new album we try to incorporate some new elements and take it to a slightly new direction, but it’s still the same In Flames you’ve been hearing on all the albums. We have the same mentality at least even if we don’t sound the same as we were in our twenties.”

The band has wrapped the record and plans to begin touring in the fall time to support the new album – find those tour dates here. Check out the interview over at Loudwire.
