Legendary guitarist Jeff Beck and The Beach Boys’ principal song writer Brian Wilson have announced a joint North American tour this fall. Dates and venues can be found below.
In a recent interview with USA Today, Beck explained the duo had prepared an impressive and unique setlist: “…I’d call [it] an interesting mix of people, classic surfing safari music and this weird stuff that I do. But it will sound like it’s all of one accord.”
He added that the set was built around the duo’s greatest hits: “Brian will kick things off, but I’ll also be given enough time to establish what I’m about. In the end, we’ll mix and match. It’s a complete honor to be on stage with him.”
Wilson also commented on the tour in a recent press release. “Jeff is one of the most amazing guitarists I’ve ever worked with, and his vibe is inspiring… We’ve got some new tunes we want to try out on a live crowd, as well as doing some great music from our catalogs.”
Joining Wilson and Beck on stage will be The Beach Boys’ Al Jardine and David Marks. Tickets for the tour will go on sale Aug. 9 through Ticketmaster.
Beck and Wilson first collaborated in 2006, when the duo performed ‘Surf’s Up’ and ‘Surfin’ USA’ at the MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony. Moreover, Beck will appear on Wilson’s upcoming album, which also features Jardine and Marks.
In the USA Today interview, Beck recalled his time in the studio with Wilson: “He didn’t say much, so it was quite a bit unnerving,” he began. “Brian is somewhere else during that process, so it’s not like you’re there chatting away. In the end, though, I’m sure we were on the same page.”
