Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora has pulled out of the band’s current Because We Can tour due to, ‘personal issues.’
The guitarist failed to join his bandmates on stage in Canada on Tuesday night and apparently will be taking an indefinite hiatus from the tour.
A statement posted on the band’s official website on Tuesday explained: ‘Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled.”
It is unclear exactly what Sambora’s issues are, although he has struggled with substance abuse and done several stints in rehab in the past.
While no word has been given as to who will replace Sambora, Bon Jovi, who reportedly only found out about Sambora’s withdrawal just hours before the band’s show on Tuesday, did make it clear it would be no easy task.
After taking to the stage late, Bon Jovi told the Calgary crowd: “I had two choices – pack up and go home or give you everything I got…Richie Sambora won’t be performing for a while. If there’s ever a night I need you, it’s tonight, Calgary!”
